Your guide to feeling confident, prepared, and relaxed before your aesthetic appointment.

Whether it’s your first time or you’re coming back for a refresh, a little preparation can go a long way toward making the experience smooth, safe, and stress-free.

Here’s what I always recommend to my clients before their appointments:

1. Avoid Blood Thinners (If Possible)
To reduce the risk of bruising, it is ideal to avoid any blood thinning medications and supplements for at least 3–5 days before your appointment:

  • Aspirin, ibuprofen (Nurofen), naproxen, meloxicam
  • Fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, garlic supplements

Always consult your doctor before stopping any medications.

2. Hold Off on Alcohol
Skip the girls night wine or weekend cocktails for at least 24 hours before your appointment—alcohol can increase bruising and swelling.

  • Smoother skin texture
  • Reduced fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduced pore size
  • Improved hydration and elasticity
  • Stronger skin barrier

3. Schedule Smart
Try not to book your treatment right before a big event. Give yourself 5–7 days for any potential swelling or bruising to subside. Risks of bruising, bleeding and swelling can be common after aesthetic treatments, even with the best injection techniques and products. Makeup cannot be worn on the day of treatment, so plan for bare skin for up to 24 hours post treatment. Some travel plans may interfere with treatment so its best to avoid overseas travel in the weeks after your appointment. Dental visits can also prevent treatment, so be sure to schedule your next clean 2 weeks before or 4-6 weeks after treatment.

4. Stay Hydrated
Drinking plenty of water can help your body heal faster and make your skin look its best.

5. Come with a Clean Face
No makeup, please! Arriving with a clean face minimises the risk of infection and helps me evaluate your skin and facial structure more accurately. All medical treatments are conducted under strict hygiene protocols so this means squeaky clean skin is a must.

6. Be Honest About Your Medical History
Let me know if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any medical conditions or allergies. Safety first—always.

7. Have Realistic Expectations
Enhancements should fit your natural beauty, not change who you are. We’ll discuss your goals and create a personalised plan that suits your face, lifestyle, and anatomy. This may mean we discuss alternative options if something is not going to enhance your experience.

8. Relax—You’re in Good Hands
Nervous? Totally normal. My goal is to make you feel safe, informed, and comfortable from the moment you walk in. I’ll introduce you to our doctors and guide you through the treatment options that are available. Experience matters; always choose a provider that is happy to discuss their qualifications and education.
